The concrete walls of the basement are rising out of the hole! As the construction team continues to take advantage of mild weather, we are seeing the form of the Interfaith Peace Chapel footprint start to reveal itself. Click here to watch the virtual tour so you can see what the finished building will look like. October 21, 2009
Our great construction team managed to get the foundations poured before the rains came! It is very exciting to see the form of the Peace Chapel start to take shape, even at this early stage. Soon, the foundation work will continue with the installation of plumbing and other mechanical needs. October 4, 2009 Today Rev. Dr. Jo Hudson unveiled the new Virtual Tour of the Interfaith Peace Chapel. This beautiful computer generated animation is a wonderful rendering of what the outside and inside of chapel will look like when completed. Click here to watch the video and share it with your friends and family! September 9, 2009 HALLELUJAH - there is a hole in the parking lot! Yes, after many months of waiting, construction has finally started in earnest!! The construction crew has scraped away the asphalt and begun to dig the hole for the foundation and basement of the Peace Chapel. You can view the progress each day via a webcam by clicking on the link at the top of this page. The image is updated every 30 seconds.
On Sunday, October 4 during the 9a and 11am services, we will premiere some new 3D computer animation of the Interfaith Peace Chapel. This beautiful rendering gives a very accurate view of what the completed building will look like and shows how it will fit into our campus. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to see the finished project and get a sneak peek INSIDE the Peace Chapel! August 1, 2009 Now the temporary fence has gone up and site preparation is continuing. That means we have lost a few parking spaces in the main lot, so you may need to park in one of the other lots on Sunday morning (click here for a PDF diagram of available parking.) We are still waiting on final permits from the city, byt over the next few weeks, you will begin to see more and more progress on the construction of the chapel. Please join us in prayer for the safety of the workers and that work will go smoothly. July 22, 2009 Site preparation begins! The congregation of the Wednesday Night Worship Service blesses the site and moves 250 limestone blocks in preparation for construction. Our landscaper, Noel Pullam, and his team have harvested many of the plants and moved them to other parts of our campus. The construction trailer has arrived and the surveyors are expected next week.
June 7, 2009 Although you cannot yet see anything happening at the future location of the Interfaith Peace Chapel (IPC), be assured there are plenty of activities taking place behind the scenes to prepare for construction. Members of the Vision Team are meeting every week with our project manager, Mike Nelson, to stay informed of the project’s status and any required updates and changes. Our team had their first pre-planning meeting with the City of Dallas and discovered the project will need an additional fire hydrant, so we are providing an easement to meet this requirement. Last month we mailed the Interfaith Peace Chapel Project newsletter, which included a letter from Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jo Hudson, a financial update and pictures of the newest addition to our campus, the life-sized bronze sculpture of Saint Francis of Assisi by Trevor Southey. April 12, 2009We are pleased to announce that in March 2009, we received a competitive construction bid from Constructors. After a review of that bid by Cunningham and Associates; and following a thorough review of the bid and financing by our Vision Team and Cathedral of Hope Board of Directors, the church leadership has determined to accept the bid so that construction on the Interfaith Peace Chapel Project can go forward. The bid has come back to us at just over $3.7 million dollars, much less than the high estimate last summer of $5.2 million. After extensive meetings with Gary Cunningham, we all agree that is unlikely we will see construction prices this low again. With that news, and with funds on hand and with financing available to us, we believe that now is the time to begin. We hope to start construction within the year, and we will continue our fundraising efforts in order to minimize any financing needed. We would like to send you a copy of the DVD “Francis of Assisi: The Forging of a Saint” for a monthly commitment of any size to the Interfaith Peace Chapel. Please visit the DONATE page by clicking the button below. If you have any questions, or would like to support the Interfaith Peace Chapel project, please contact Todd Scoggins at 214-351-1901. We thank you for your prayers and your generosity!
