In John's gospel (4:1-42), a tired and thirsty Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. She observes that he is a prophet, and he tells her that ""the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him"" (4:23). The moment is a revelation of the good news of God's affirmation, inclusiveness, and liberation of all God's creation. In the same way that all of our worship remembers and re-enacts the good news of God, Worship ""at the Well""--a Contemplative Communion offers members and friends of Cathedral of Hope and all other interested persons an opportunity to share scripture, response, prayer, and communion at a time and place set aside for contemplation and meditation. All people are welcome to participate.
