Look, it comes! Endtime— the end comes. The end is ripe. Watch out, it's coming! This is your fate, you who live in this land. Time's up. It's zero hour. No dragging of feet now, no bargaining for more time. Ezekiel 7:5-7 Taken from Eugene Peterson’s The Message
With the buzz about the blockbuster movie predicting the events of 2012, I thought it was fitting to share a little doom and gloom in the midst of this holiday season. Well, at least the doom and gloom of yet another year ending and the reality that last year’s list of resolutions have all been labeled with a thudding FAIL.
If you are anything like me, the tick tock of the 2009 clock is ringing in your ears. In fact, December 29 is officially labeled Tick Tock Day by holiday gurus. As the clock begins to chime, have you accomplished all you hoped for this year? Honestly, who has? Well, you better hurry because time is running out. The end is coming!
We are in luck, the God of love that was present Christmas morning is still present this day. We are in luck; there is still plenty of time to get at least something done on that 2009 resolution list before the year comes to a screeching end. But you better get going, and quick.
Remember all those dreams you’ve had, all those ideas that filled you with hope as the clock struck midnight almost a year ago? It’s time, friend. Do something! Make this day a day of action. God calls us to work, it’s time to answer the call and get going.
God, thank you for the gift of time. Remind us this day and every day that we have all the time we need to do all the things You need. AMEN
