Board of Stewarts Application Information

Thank you for your consideration in applying for the Cathedral of Hope Board of Stewards. The information on this page should help you to understand the time commitment, covenant commitment and skills needed to move through the nominating process. Please read the information on this page carefully. You do not need to sign any of these documents at this time.


It is very important that you understand the requirements, responsibilities, and qualifications of this ministry. Section VI of the Bylaws explains what is expected of our Governing Body, the Board of Stewards. If you have questions about Section VI of the Bylaws, please contact the Nominations Committee Chair. Each applicant must also meet the qualifications outlined in the Leadership Covenant. Another important item is that each applicant is required to submit to and pass a background check.


You can expect to spend two to four hours a month on the work of the Board. You most likely will serve on a committee as a board liaison which could require an additional two hours a month. Officer positions require additional time of two to four hours a month. These time commitments will vary but should give you an idea of the expectations. 

 

It is also important that you are familiar with office technology. The ability to use email and basic products such as Word and Excel are important. Even more important to navigating electronic communication and documents, you will need to understand the church financials if you are nominated and elected to serve.


After understanding what is expected in the ministry and if you feel called to do so, please submit your application on or before Sunday, February 8, 2026. The application is available here. To provide the appropriate amount of time and consideration before the Annual Congregational Meeting, applications delivered to the church after Sunday, February 8, 2026 may not be considered.


The Nominations Committee will consider all applications and will slate all qualified candidates for the open positions at the Congregational Meeting on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:30am. As part of the process you will be asked to participate in an orientation meeting with all or part of the committee. These meetings will be conducted the second week of February. A full timeline is included on this page. Please keep in mind that these committee members are volunteering their time and talents to this process. If you aren’t available for an orientation meeting during these times, please work with the committee chair.
