A Place Called Hope: Renewing Our Columbarium for Future Generations
Columbarium Refurbishment Project

Columbarium Refurbishment Project
The columbarium and memorial garden serve as a living memorial to those who have gone before us. Since its installation in 1993, the Columbarium has served as a sacred place of remembrance and honor.
Over time, however, the structure has experienced significant foundation and structural deterioration. After careful evaluation, it has been determined that it is no longer repairable and must be thoughtfully replaced.
New manufactured columbarium columns will match the round columbarium granite color and niche plates will be engraved in the same style and color with the name, birth years and death years. The new columns will be installed in the same location as the current structures. Each niche will remain in its corresponding placement, preserving the continuity and sacred nature of this space.
Additionally, we are excited to announce an expansion to our current columbarium space with a new niche wall that will offer 84 new niches that can each hold up to two 5.5" x 5.5" x 9" urns. Construction of the new niche columns and niche wall will take approximately 8 months to complete. We will be pre-selling the new niches and can engrave your name(s) on the niche plates as part of the manufacturing process.
In preparation for the new columns and niche wall, significant work in the space will need to be completed. Each of the existing niches will be emptied and the urns will be placed in temporary niches and will be stored in locked and secured area at the church. We are ensuring that the utmost care will be given to inventory, label, and store these items with dignity and respect - the same dignity and respect that is shown when we perform the inurnment ceremony when one of our members have passed. The wisteria and pergola will be removed, the existing columns will be dismantled and new concrete will be poured in the area to support the new columns and wall.
Thanks to a security grant that was awarded to the church, we will also be making improvements to ensure that the area remains safe, secure and the sacred space that it has always been. The holly hedges that surround the parameter of the columbarium will be removed and a decorative iron fence will be added, along with two gates that will allow us to lock the space during the evenings. Security cameras and lighting will also be added to the space.
This refurbishment will ensure that our columbarium will be a place for people to visit their loved ones for many decades to come – a place called Hope, the Cathedral of Hope.”
